Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Winship collects through this website, why, how it is handled, and the choices you have. It is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Plain English, no dark patterns.
Last updated: July 2026.
Who we are
Winship is an Australian web-design and custom-software studio, operating remotely across Australia and New Zealand. In this policy, "we", "us" and "Winship" refer to the studio, and "you" refers to anyone using this website or sending an enquiry.
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us. Through the contact and free-audit forms, that is:
- Your name — so we know who we're replying to.
- Your email address — to send the reply, audit or quote.
- Your phone number — optional, only if you'd prefer a call.
- Your current website URL — optional, so we can look at what you have.
- Your message — whatever you tell us about the project.
- Security-scan consent — a yes/no you tick if you'd like a free security check of the site URL you provided.
We do not ask for, and you should not send, sensitive information (such as health, financial account or government-identifier details) through these forms.
Why we collect it, and how it's used
Your information is used only to respond to your enquiry: to reply, prepare an honest audit or a fixed quote, and — if you tick the box — to run a one-off security scan of the website URL you gave us and report what we find. We do not use your details for marketing lists, and we do not sell, rent or trade them to anyone.
How it reaches us, and where it's stored
The forms are delivered by Web3Forms, a third-party form-handling service, which passes your submission to our email inbox. Because that provider processes and may store the submission on servers outside Australia (including the United States), submitting the form involves an overseas disclosure of the information you enter. Your message then lives in our email, on reputable providers with standard protections. We keep enquiries only as long as needed to help you and to maintain sensible business records, and we delete them when they're no longer needed.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If website analytics are added in future, they will be privacy-respecting and this policy will be updated to say so before they go live.
Security
Enquiries are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we take reasonable steps to protect the information you send. No method of transmission or storage is ever perfectly secure, but we keep the surface small — we collect little, and we don't hoard it.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask us to confirm what information of yours we hold, to correct it, or to delete it. Just get in touch and we'll action reasonable requests promptly, at no charge. If you're ever unhappy with how a privacy matter was handled, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
